Best available NBA free agent shooting guards: 1. James Harden

James Harden is one of the best free agents in this entire class. Despite a playoff stinker in the season-ending loss to the Celtics, some teams will offer Harden max money. Whether the Sixers will do that is a different story. Re-signing him is a big commitment to an aging player whose game has already declined. But if they don’t re-sign him it may make it difficult to complete other roster upgrades.

Other teams expected to be interested in Harden are the Suns and Rockets. The Rockets have a young roster and space to offer Harden a lot of money with a deal that ends around the time other young players will be extension eligible. Although Harden has a strong chance to head back to his old team in Houston, he could also be using Houston’s interest as leverage in any negotiations with Philly. The Suns are the wild card in all of this and could make a competitive offer for the superstar.
