Boston Red Sox trade fit: Lucas Giolito

Right-hander Lucas Giolito is supremely talented and could be a prime candidate to thrive with a new team. And considering that he’s on an expiring contract and on a struggling White Sox team, that scenario is very likely to come into play.

The Red Sox are going to be looking for starting pitching. And Giolito in Boston is a fit that I quite like.

Giolito, 28, has been much better in 2023 than he was in 2022. He’s posted a 3.86 ERA and 56/7 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 53.2 innings, which is much more in line with what he produced from 2019 to 2021.

Acquiring Giolito would not require the Red Sox — or any other team — to break the bank. And considering how Chaim Bloom likes to hold onto his top prospects, acquiring Giolito certainly fits how he likes to operate. I like this one.

Grading the fit: 7/10
