Even the Red Sox are defending Aaron Judge, sort of

Amid the ongoing reports of Aaron Judge’s cheating scandal, one former Red Sox player sided with the Yankees slugger.

Aaron Judge didn’t cheat in Game 1 of the New York YankeesToronto Blue Jays series. But Domingo German did in Game 2, so Judge’s controversial side-eye glance continues to be a point of contention for those stubborn Blue Jays supporters who probably want the whole Yankees team ejected.

The general consensus following Judge’s cheating allegations was that the Blue Jays were tipping pitches, and the Yankees were then relaying the pitchers’ tells to Judge at-bat.

Not everybody is in agreement, so one ex-Boston Red Sox player saw it fit to address the issue himself. And he picked the side of Judge — a Yankees player, nonetheless.

Former Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks posted his analysis of Judge’s side-eye glance on Twitter, pointing out that Toronto catcher Alejandro Kirk was unknowingly giving information on the Blue Jays’ pitches to the Yankees coaches.

Adam Weinrib from Yanks Go Yard breaks down Middlebrooks’ tweet, as seen below:

As Weinrib states, if the Red Sox are defending the Yankees, the Judge scandal is likely a whole lot of blown-up nothing.

"“Did Aaron Judge shift his eyes in an odd direction before homering in Game 1? Yes. But he’s also homered all his career, including two homers on Monday and a tie-breaking, two-run homer last night, marking his fifth home run in four games. But sure, keep believing that he’s “cheating.”"

New York will face Toronto this afternoon for yet another highly anticipated AL East matchup, and maybe the Blue Jays will do a little less complaining and more playing baseball. Or, as their pregame show suggested, maybe we have more fireworks to worry about moving forward in Toronto.
