1. Waffle House

It’s easy to wax poetic about Waffle House. This is the southern classic. If you have a visitor from up north, there is one inevitable question that comes up: “Can we go to Waffle House?” The chain has expanded well beyond Georgia at this point, but there’s nothing like visiting a Waffle House in Georgia. It’s a singular experience.

Waffle House started in the state and has been a favorite of the everyman ever since: open 24 hours, complete with bare-bones service, chain-smoking workers, and the best damn breakfast you’ll find at 4 P.M. on a Thursday or 2 A.M. on a Sunday.

How could the Braves think of any other major corporation to partner with? If they wanted a giant yellow block on their sleeve, where better to look? What better place to go after a Braves home win than your local Waffle House for some post-game grub? I don’t see fans hustling out of the Battery to buy their next bag of Quikrete.

Ultimately, this patch will probably have very little impact on the fandom or the team. Perhaps there is a subconscious psychological advantage for Quikrete — people do need concrete every now and then — but it won’t affect the average viewer. Even so, it’s hard not to think about some of the more appropriate Atlanta alternatives and what could have been.
