1. Ty Lue

The Suns would have to jump through several hoops pry Ty Lue away from the Clippers, but it’s clear Phoenix has interest in the former NBA champion — as they should. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to label Lue as the best coaching working right now. His knack for adjustments and adaptability is special.

Again, that’s what Phoenix needs — an adaptable mind who can get the most out of a wonky roster. Lue has kept the Clippers in contention through countless Kawhi Leonard and Paul George injuries at this point; there’s nobody better at maximizing the bench mob and unearthing unexpected contributions from role players.

Lue has the championship pedigree a contender like Phoenix wants, plus he’s still going strong. There are plenty of former winners on the market who feel stale (example: Doc Rivers). Experience is valuable, but only if that coach has shown the ability to learn from mistakes and evolve over time. That’s Ty Lue.

He would be the home run pickup; simultaneously bolstering Phoenix and diminishing the Clippers, a division rival. Lue is probably the hardest name on this list to acquire, but he would be well worth whatever pick capital (and hefty salary) the Suns would have to pay. If Phoenix can get Ty Lue, it may genuinely alter the complexion of the Western Conference.
