Braves Rumors: I don’t want to trade for Mike Clevinger, so thanks, but no thanks

While I appreciate my esteemed colleague Robert Murray looking at a potential Braves rotation pick me up with Max Fried and Kyle Wright straight chilling on IL for the foreseeable future, I don’t want Mike Clevinger anywhere near my beloved baseball. I didn’t know what team the former Clevelander turned San Diegoan? was on, but I do know that the Chicago White Sox are so horrific.

The idea of the South Siders being a potential seller is fascinating. They were supposed to be good. What happened? They’ve aged terribly. As it turns out, Tony La Russa wasn’t the problem. Regardless, Clevinger carries off-the-field baggage and has not delivered in his short time with the White Sox either. Like The Tiger King, Clevinger appears to have peaked in 2020 … three years ago.

Although I do trust Alex Anthopoulos as much as a do a family member or a dear, dear friend, I’m not really comfortable with touching the third rail on The L here, to be honest. The Sox were my team when I lived in Chicago, back when they were awful. They had Beatles Night and really cheap seats, beers and hot dogs, but some things are best left in the past, just like Clevinger being good…

On the Buhler trade scale, if I don’t know what team you’re on, then I don’t want you on my team.
