Did Mage get closer to clinching the Triple Crown with a win at the Preakness Stakes? Here are the full results and finishing order of the big race.

Earlier this month, the first leg of the Triple Crown in horse racing took place. In that race, Mage was able to get past the leading Two Phil’s in the final stretch to win the 148th Kentucky Derby. Immediately after the face, the big question that loomed was “Is Mage going to compete in the Preakness Stakes?” That answer was yes, as Mage entered the Preakness to inch closer to clinching the Triple Crown.

Was Mage successful?

On Saturday, May 20, the world got their answer, and it wasn’t Mage. It was National Treasure who won the 148th Preakness Stakes, giving trainer Bob Baffert his eighth career win at the event, which is now the most all-time. This is Baffert’s return from a suspension after Medina Spirit failed a drug test in 2021, where the horse won the Kentucky Derby that year, but was later disqualified.

National Treasure had a lead in the final stretch but had tough competition in the form of Blazing Sevens. It was a close race between both horses, but it was National Treasure who was able to get the slight lead to cross the finish line to get the victory.

As for Mage, the horse tried to play catchup in the final stretch, but it just wasn’t enough, as National Treasure and Blazing Sevens were too far away. With that, there won’t be a new Triple Crown winner. The last horse to win the Triple Crown was Justify back in 2018.

Now, let’s take a look at the full results of the Preakness.
