Red Sox who could be traded: Enrique Hernandez

Kiké Hernandez is on the outs for a few reasons. First, his bat is a liability at this point. Second, he should be able to help a contender.

Hernandez can play shortstop, second base or even a corner outfield spot. He’s a World Series champion back in 2020 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. For now, he is starting at second base with Christian Arroyo on the injured list.

When that time comes to an end for Arroyo, though, Hernandez could become popular trade bait. Even if Boston is in an odd in-between with buying and selling, Hernandez is an intriguing piece to sell off for even a mild-mannered prospect.

Arroyo, as well as eventually top prospect Marcelo Mayer, are the future of Boston’s middle infield. With Hernandez on an affordable $10 million deal this season, expect him to have several suitors come late July, whether the Sox are winning or not.
