Way too early prediction for the 76ers 2023-24 starting lineup
By Ian Levy
Power Forward: P.J. Tucker
At this point in his career, Tucker is probably better suited for a bench role. He played just 25.6 minutes per game last season, his lowest since his first season in Phoenix, and while his strengths are well-defined (accurate, low-volume 3-point shooting and stout defense), so are his weaknesses (everything else).
Ideally, Philadelphia would have a third frontcourt player who could spend time at both forward positions and work in a three-man platoon with Harris and Tucker, offering a bit of which each of those others is lacking. Georges Niang is fine and his shooting helps, but it would great to have a little more complementary creation and defensive versatility from this third forward.
Someone like Harrison Barnes or Kelly Oubre Jr. would be great fits but almost certainly out of the price range. They could bring back Jalen McDaniels but the way he slid out the playoff rotation doesn’t inspire confidence. Maybe it’s worth sniffing around Joe Ingles?
Regardless, it’s Tucker in the starting lineup for now while the 76ers look for a better option.
