Must-have free agents for the Houston Rockets: 2. PF Grant Williams

Out of college, Williams was known primarily as a post scorer, but he quickly developed into a knockdown 3-point shooter in the NBA.

In 2022-23, he shot an efficient 39.5 percent from deep, while taking 3.7 attempts per game.

As a member of the Boston Celtics, Williams has played in a lot of big games, and he has established himself as an excellent playoff performer. For his playoff career, he is shooting a blazing 43.3 percent from 3. He hit seven 3s against the Milwaukee Bucks during Game 7 of the 2022 Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The Rockers were last in the NBA in 3-point percentage last season (32.7). In 2022-23, the league average 3-point percentage was 36.1 percent. Only two players on Houston’s roster reached that mark: Garuba and Kevin Porter Jr.

The Celtics have -$50.6 million in cap space, so re-signing Williams may be off the table.

Williams would give the Rockets some much-needed floor spacing and playoff experience.
