NFL Rumors: DeAndre Hopkins “unlikely” to join Cleveland Browns

Cross out the Bills, Chiefs, and now the Cleveland Browns.

Since being released by Arizona, DeAndre Hopkins has been rumored to join a handful of wideout-needy teams, but Albert Breer believes him linking up with the Browns is not in the cards this offseason.

"The Browns are another team that’s been connected to him, because of Hopkins’s relationship with Deshaun Watson, but as it stands right now, I’d say that one’s unlikely."

Following his release, Hopkins was heavily connected to the Browns because of his longstanding relationship with Deshaun Watson. Hopkins and Cleveland reportedly had a “strong mutual interest” to unite, and Watson himself publicly said Hopkins has always been like a brother to him.

Watson and Hopkins were teammates on the Houston Texans, and they also both played college football at Clemson. During their time together, Hopkins accumulated three All-Pro seasons and appeared to have good chemistry with the controversial quarterback.

Yet for whatever reason, Breer claims it’s “unlikely” that the Browns will sign Hopkins. We’ll just have to see.

A potential hurdle in a Hopkins-Browns union is the fact that Hopkins said on a podcast that he’s looking for a franchise with “great management.” A franchise that just sold its soul for Watson doesn’t really fall under that category.
