Under-the-radar NBA free agents: 2. Seth Curry

Flashback to 2021, it’s Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Sixers are tied up with the Atlanta Hawks 2-2. The discourse surrounding the Sixers is centered around franchise players Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Embiid is playing through a knee injury, while Simmons is receiving criticism for being too “passive”.

With the season on the line, Seth Curry pours in 36 points on an efficient 13-19 shooting. He was a +6 on the floor.

Curry came through in big moments throughout the 2021 playoffs for the Philadelphia 76ers. In 12 games, he averaged 18.8 points, while shooting 57.8 percent from the field and 50.6 percent from deep. He led the Sixers in both win shares (1.6) and true shooting percentage (72.7).

Throughout his career, Curry has quietly been a great “big game” player. When the pressure is on, he rises to the occasion. Overall, he has shot 46.7 percent from 3 in the postseason.

In 2018, he was instrumental to the Blazers’ Conference Finals run. In a second-round game against the Denver Nuggets, he came off the bench and scored 14 points in a single quarter.

Following the departures of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, he played a reduced role for the Brooklyn Nets. After the trade deadline, his playing time declined to 14.1 minutes per game.

Curry is ready to help a contender win a championship. He has the potential to alter the playoff landscape next season.
