Astros trade target No. 2: White Sox ace Dylan Cease

Dylan Cease is the perfect storm of a trade candidate for this season’s trade deadline.

He is everything that the White Sox would need to begin offering him on the trade block. Cease has the talent, as he’s coming off a Cy Young-caliber season that was spoiled by Justin Verlander’s historic season.

Cease is young enough to offer more untapped potential for another team to develop with time. He is also under team control for multiple more seasons, creating incredible value with him. His package could net a similar package to what the Reds received for Luis Castillo last season.

Cease would be the strikeout pitcher who could excel in October behind a lineup that would provide him the run production to win games. This is something the Astros are no strangers to, as they have seen offensive outbreaks in October multiple times over the last decade.

With Cease coming off such an incredible season as well as his team control, the Astros could part ways with some of their top prospects to net him. This trade would not only set them up for this year but would allow them to have an ace of the future to pair next to Framber Valdez and a healthy Lance McCullers.
