The Mets should avoid trade for Anderson

If it’s the offseason or the trade deadline, this is usually the time for Mets owner Steve Cohen to shine.

Cohen is usually active in trying to improve his club and often will overdo it to make a splash in the pool. Anderson seems the type Cohen would make a play for to boost his team. But the Mets have a pretty awesome shortstop in Fransisco Lindor, with Luis Gullorme serving as his backup.

The Mets will be active, but may be more in the way of finding a first baseman to help in Pete Alonso’s absence. Most teams will actively find pitching, and the Mets will be no exception. There is even talk of the Mets trading Max Scherzer. The Mets will still need bullpen help with their closer Edwin Diaz on the injured list and Drew Smith likely out for a few games after getting ejected from a match for use of a sticky substance.

The Mets will be active, but they should avoid making a play for Anderson.
