MLB London Series: 3 Cardinals and 2 Cubs who can up their trade stock overseas
By Kevin Henry
St. Louis Cardinals potential trade candidate: Jordan Hicks
Thanks to a small tweak, Hicks has once again become a dominant force in the St. Louis bullpen. Over his past 4.2 innings (four appearances), the 26-year-old right-hander has not allowed a run and scattered two hits while striking out seven and not issuing a walk. Hitting triple digits with his fastball, Hicks could become a trade option for teams if they can work a deal with the Cardinals. With Hicks scheduled to be a free agent in 2024, St. Louis could be opening to listening … but it could likely take a deal that blows away the Cardinals for them to actually move him.
And that’s where London comes in. Is this run that Hicks is on an anomaly or is there really something to it? The more that Hicks can show he has discovered something again thanks to that tweak, the higher his trade value will be.
With saves in each of his last three outings, what if Hicks can lock down victories for St. Louis in both London games? That would not only help St. Louis try to climb out of the cellar, but also show that Hicks can be a very reliable option in the late innings.
