Damian Lillard wants to be traded to the Heat but the Trail Blazers don’t like their best offer. Now Lillard’s agent is trying to scare off other teams.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Aaron Goodwin, who is Damian Lillard’s agent, has been warning off teams besides the Miami Heat from trading for the superstar. It has been floated around the league that Lillard really wants to go to the Miami Heat. The All-NBA player does not have many other desired destinations. The Blazers reportedly haven’t loved the Heat’s best offer and are looking for other possibilities.

There have been rumors that Lillard has been disinterested in joining the Sixers or the Celtics. Those teams are the other two major championship contenders that have been seriously interested in making a move for the best player in Portland’s history.

Can Aaron Goodwin make sure only the Heat end up making serious offers for Damian Lillard?

The short answer to this question is no. Any team that presents an offer that the Trail Blazers would accept can trade for Lillard. He may not be extremely happy with the decision but short of retiring from basketball, he has no control over the situation. He could have gotten a no-trade clause from the Trail Blazers when he got his most recent extension but for some unclear reason, he did not.

Without a no-trade clause, Lillard does not have any control over who he plays for. He could threaten to hold out or flat-out retire if he doesn’t get traded to Miami. In recent years, stars have made trade requests and used every bit of leverage they can muster to get to their preferred destinations.
