After much speculation, the starting pitchers for the 2023 midusmmer classic on Tuesday in Seattle, Washington, have been announced. Who are they?

American League manager Dusty Baker and National League manager Rob Thomson of the Philadelphia Phillies revealed the starting pitchers ahead of Tuesday’s MLB All-star game at T-Mobile Park.

Who is the AL starting pitcher for the 2023 All-Star game?

Gerrit Cole, the star pitcher for the New York Yankees, has been chosen to start the All-Star Game for the American League.

This will be Gerrit Cole’s first start in the All-Star Game, although he has been selected for the event six times.

The right-hander has been having an exceptional season complete with a 9-2 record, a 2.85 ERA, and a remarkable 123 strikeouts in 117 innings. Joining a prestigious list of Yankees pitchers that havee started in the game including Lefty Gomez and Roger Clemens, Cole, 32, is ready to make his mark on the All-Star Game.

Considering his recent workload — Cole has pitched over 43 innings since the start of June — there were doubts about whether Cole would pitch in the All-Star Game. However, he expressed his desire to pitch, and AL manager Dusty Baker has granted him the opportunity due to his exceptional abilities and determination.

Who is the NL starting pitcher for the 2023 All-Star game?

Zac Gallen, a talented right-hander for the Diamondbacks, will make his All-Star debut as the starting pitcher for the National League. Gallen, 27, boasts an impressive 11-3 record and a 3.04 ERA. His 125 strikeouts in 118 1/3 innings this season have placed him among the league leaders in wins. Gallen follows in the footsteps of Diamondbacks legends Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling as a starting pitcher in the All-Star Game.

Interestingly, this is the first time since 2001 that the Yankees and the Diamondbacks have had starting pitchers in the All-Star Game. Previously, Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson took the mound for their respective teams during the 2001 game, which was also held in Seattle. Later that year, the Diamondbacks defeated the Yankees in the World Series.

As for Zac Gallen, he last pitched on Friday, throwing 96 pitches in a victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates. His remarkable statistics this season caught the attention of NL manager Rob Thomson, who praised Gallen’s incredible numbers and acknowledged his outstanding performance throughout the year.

The All-Star Game is set to be an exciting display of talent and skill, with Gerrit Cole and Zac Gallen leading their respective leagues on the mound. Fans can look forward to an exceptional matchup between these two premier pitchers.
