Here are the latest playoff odds for every MLB team, according to FanGraphs as of July 16.

These are what the MLB standings would look like, based on playoff odds heading into July 16.

Yes, there is so much baseball left to be played, but the great have already separated from the good, and the awful have bottomed out. The good news though is outside of a few select teams, there is still so much to play for the rest of the way. With the postseason expanding to six teams in each league, why not go for it at the deadline? Look no further than the Philadelphia Phillies!

If the baseball standings were based on playoff odds percentages, here is how that would look.

MLB standings based on playoff percentage chances as of July 16

Here are the MLB standings based on who FanGraphs thinks will make the postseason right now.

AL East

  1. Tampa Bay Rays: 98.8 percent
  2. Baltimore Orioles: 81.9 percent
  3. Toronto Blue Jays: 77.3 percent
  4. New York Yankees: 51.1 percent
  5. Boston Red Sox: 27.4 percent

AL Central

  1. Minnesota Twins: 68.6 percent
  2. Cleveland Guardians: 28.0 percent
  3. Detroit Tigers: 3.1 percent
  4. Chicago White Sox: 1.8 percent
  5. Kansas City Royals. 0.0 percent

AL West

  1. Texas Rangers: 74.9 percent
  2. Houston Astros: 64.0 percent
  3. Seattle Mariners: 13.3 percent
  4. Los Angeles Angels: 9.9 percent
  5. Oakland Athletics: 0.0 percent

NL East

  1. Atlanta Braves: 100.0 percent
  2. Miami Marlins: 66.6 percent
  3. Philadelphia Phillies: 62.1 percent
  4. New York Mets: 10.7 percent
  5. Washington Nationals: 0.0 percent

NL Central

  1. Milwaukee Brewers: 71.2 percent
  2. Cincinnati Reds: 23.4 percent
  3. Chicago Cubs: 9.4 percent
  4. St. Louis Cardinals: 5.3 percent
  5. Pittsburgh Pirates: 0.8 percent

NL West

  1. Los Angeles Dodgers: 94.7 percent
  2. San Francisco Giants: 69.4 percent
  3. Arizona Diamondbacks: 57.5 percent
  4. San Diego Padres: 28.9 percent
  5. Colorado Rockies: 0.0 percent

When you look at the six divisions, some things are painfully obvious. The Atlanta Braves and the Tampa Bay Rays are locks to make the postseason. Should you cheer for the Baltimore Orioles, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Milwaukee Brewers or the Texas Rangers, you have to love how the year is unfolding for your team. Also, keep an eye on the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central…

Overall, I think those are the teams worthy of paying close attention to the most. I would also say there are a handful of teams just outside of that group that have great postseason shots as well. Some of those teams include the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Miami Marlins, the Phillies, the San Francisco Giants and the Toronto Blue Jays. There is just so much great baseball to be had of late.

May your favorite team have the best second half possible, besides the Atlanta Braves, of course!
