White Sox rumors: Adding Tim Anderson to the trade block wouldn’t be a bad idea for Chicago

As of July 15, 2023, it has now been exactly 365 days since the last time Tim Anderson hit a home run in a Major League Baseball game. That’s a real statistic. There’s no trick to this statement. Tim Anderson has just struggled that mightily over the last calendar year for the White Sox. That gives Chicago the perfect opportunity to deal Anderson away now, getting his contract off their books, giving another team the option to pick up his $14 million club option in 2024.

Not only is Anderson not hitting for power, but his average is also sitting at a struggling .227 as of now and his WAR is -1.6. There really is no place on the field where Anderson is excelling anymore. Even with these struggles recently, Anderson could still have a decent bit of value, as his track record until this season was incredible.

Chicago will have to bank on a team taking a flier on the once promising infielder. Anderson has a club option next year, a track record of .300 average seasons, and multiple All-Star selections. His career is far from over, but his time with Chicago should be coming to an end. They need to continue to go all in with their rebuild and if they can get any positive value for Anderson, they need to take it.
