After addressing the offense by signing Melvin Gordon, the Ravens have apparently turned their eyes towards a veteran addition on defense.

The Ravens aren’t done adding veteran free agents this year.

On Friday morning, Melvin Gordon and the Ravens agreed to a one-year deal worth $3.1 million, per Adam Schefter. The 30-year-old had 318 yards on the ground and 223 through the air with the Broncos last year.

Gordon joins a crowded running back room in Baltimore that already returns J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill. The Ravens did let Kenyan Drake, who led them in rushing attempts, go in free agency. So Gordon brings the stable back up to four.

Next up? Linebacker Kyle Van Noy.

NFL Rumors: Ravens hosting veteran lineback Kyle Van Noy

According to Jeremy Fowler, Van Noy is visiting the Ravens on Fridays as Baltimore looks into adding to their defense as well.

Van Noy spent the 2022 season with the Chargers, starting 13 of 17 games with 46 tackles, five sacks, three pass defenses and a forced fumble. He has had five or more sacks in each of the last four seasons, so his ability as a pass rusher makes him a valued target.

The Ravens have Roquan Smith, Patrick Queen and Tyus Bowser returning at linebacker, so Van Noy wouldn’t be looking at a starting role, but he would still be looking at solid playing time, especially as an option behind Bowser.

With more to give in the NFL, whether deployed inside or out, Van Noy could be a versatile contributor for the Ravens if they managed to sign him.

Van Noy has won two Super Bowls in his career, so his leadership and experience makes him an even more worthy addition.

Drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of BYU, Van Noy was traded to the Patriots in 2017, going on to Super Bowl glory. He has also played for the Dolphins and Chargers.
