Max Scherzer trade details between the Rangers and Mets are awaiting finalization. Here’s what we know about prospects involved so far.

The MLB trade deadline is coming up quick and Max Scherzer became the main character on Saturday with a trade agreed between the Rangers and Mets.

Scherzer still needs to agree to waive his no-trade clause, which he is expected to do according to Andy Martino of SNY.

Then financial details and a physical need to be passed before the trade is made official. So it may still be some time before everything is finalized.

In the meantime, there is plenty of speculation about which prospects the Rangers are going to send to New York as part of the deal.

Mets return on Max Scherzer deal revealed, if the trade goes through

According to FanSided MLB insider Robert Murray, the return on the trade for the Mets is for Luisangel Acuña, straight up. However, reports have come out that the deal has hit a snag, with Mark Feinsand reporting it’s due to Scherzer not waiting his no-trade clause.

UPDATE: The trade has been finalized with infielder Luisangel Acuña going to New York.

Max Scherzer trade details: What we know so far on prospects included

Here are the Rangers’ top prospects and what has been said about them being part of the trade so far:

  • No. 1: OF Evan Carter
    • No substantial links have been made.
  • No. 2: RHP Owen White
    • No substantial links have been made.
  • No. 3: INF Luisangel Acuña
  • No. 4: RHP Brock Porter
    • Porter’s name came up as rumors swirled around a deal brewing because it looked like he was pulled from his Saturday start for Single-A Down East. However, he made that start. That does not exclude him from the deal, however.
  • No. 5: RHP Jack Leiter
    • While Leiter has not been substantially linked to the Scherzer deal, Marino cited the belief that the Mets would consider trading him for a “big get” like Justin Verlander.
  • No. 6: SS Sebastian Walcott
    • Walcott was also rumored to be part of a trade when he was pulled from his start in the Arizona Complex League. However, per Joel Sherman of NY Post, that move was disciplinary in nature.
  • No. 15: INF Thomas Saggese

It still looks wide open as to which prospects will be joining the Mets when all is said and done.
