With so many changes on the St. Louis Cardinals roster, who can fans expect to be gone by Sep. 1?

The Cardinals will make several changes over the next two months as they determine who will remain with the team and who will be placed on that list of people who will likely be moved in the offseason, which promises to be eventful.

The Cards have several young pitchers we will likely see make their debuts this season to show off what they have and what to expect moving forward. The Cardinals analyst team will be hard to work with until the end of the season.

Dakota Hudson had an impressive start on Wednesday that may have saved him some time. Hudson didn’t give up his first hit until the sixth inning of the Cardinals’ 7-3 win over the Minnesota Twins. Hudson pitched seven innings, giving up two hits, three walks, and a three-run home run to Matt Wallner. He struck out seven batters.

Conditions were on the moist side, which provided Hudson some trouble with his grip. Pitching coach Dusty Blake brought a towel and an extra resin bag.

This was an excellent outing for Hudson. It will be interesting to see if he can build on this outing. He is still arbitration eligible and will not be a free agent until 2025. These next few weeks will be crucial for Hudson.

Matthew Liberatore will return to the Cardinals rotation Thursday evening. He had made a few starts earlier this season when Adam Wainwright was on the injured list. After the Cardinals’ busy trade deadline, Liberatore has a real shot to take his spot in the Cardinals’ rotation.

Other arms will get a chance to start, such as Zack Thompson, Andre Pallante, newly acquired Drew Rom, and Cardinals pitching prospects Gordon Graceffo and Mike McGreevy. There will probably be other pitchers fans will get to see, too.

Let’s discuss who will not be on the roster on Sep. 1.
