After Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson started a fight with Jose Ramirez, he has yet to return a call from the Guardians star.

Jose Ramirez and Tim Anderson got into a literal fight on the baseball diamond, for which both players were suspended. Anderson is the player who squared up first, while Ramirez insisted he was merely defending himself.

Yet, it’s Anderson who ended up on the turf.

In the aftermath, Ramirez insisted that he’s spoken with Anderson prior to the fight about how he conducts himself on the diamond. Now, it would appear that Anderson has refused to take any of Ramirez’s calls in an attempt to repair the relationship.

“In the light of the recent events, I want to say to the public that I deeply regret what happened between me and Tim Anderson, whom I consider a very good baseball player,” Ramirez said on the Dominican Republic TV show ‘Show Del Mediodia‘. “I’ve been trying to reach out to him directly and apologize but haven’t received an answer. Everyone who knows me, knows well I’m not somebody who’s out there looking for trouble.”

Why won’t Tim Anderson take Jose Ramirez’s calls after White Sox-Guardians drama?

Anderson has been the subject of fan frustration after the fight, and was suspended six games by MLB. He posted a series of cryptic tweets that he has since deleted.

It’s unclear exactly why Anderson wouldn’t take a call from Ramirez, but it’s possible he wants to let matters cool down before speaking with the person who literally just clocked him in the face. Ramirez, for his part, sounds apologetic for the way things unfolded.

“It’s been part of my personality and behavior to give 100% everyday at the field to help my team and trying to be an example for the younger players on my team. I want to reiterate apologies for my behavior and as always my goal is to help my team to win and reach the postseason. I want to thank everybody in my organization, my teammates and all my fans for their support during this process,” Ramirez added.

It’s been a brutal season for Anderson, and just as he was starting to hit well again, he became the face for all that is wrong with the Chicago White Sox.
