The Teddy Bridgewater era will begin for the Denver Broncos when they travel to the Meadowlands to take on the New York Giants in Week 1. 

The Giants are 7-6 against Denver all time and took the last meeting back in 2017. Denver, who hasn’t made the postseason since winning Super Bowl 50, is hoping that a healthy and revamped roster will get it out of the league’s basement after a 5-11 finish last season. 

With Saquon Barkley reportedly nearing clearance to play in Week 1, the Giants and Daniel Jones should get a solid boost to their offense after scoring the second-fewest points in the NFL in 2020. 

The Broncos and Giants will kick off at 4:25 p.m. EST on Sunday. Here’s how the odds look for this matchup at WynnBET Sportsbook:

Broncos vs. Giants Prediction and Pick

Bridgewater is amazing at covering the spread as a starter in the NFL, and I expect him and the Broncos to get off on the right foot in Week 1. 

Denver was one of the most injured teams in the NFL last season (other than the San Francisco 49ers), and they have a strong skill group (Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Noah Fant, KJ Hamler, Tim Patrick, Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon) around Bridgewater. 

Vic Fangio made the move to start Bridgewater in order to try to win now, and I think he’s a much better quarterback than the turnover-prone Jones. The Giants defense was solid in the 2020 season, but New York needs to find its offensive identity if it wants to compete this season. 

Barkley will help, but asking him to carry the offense in his first game back from a torn ACL is a little much. I’ll take Denver to cover the 2.5-point spread and start the season 1-0.
