The Teddy Bridgewater era is off to a resounding start, as the Denver Broncos easily defeated the New York Giants in their Week 1 matchup

Teddy B is now 37-14 against the spread as a starter in the NFL, and I owe him a personal thanks for helping my best bet for Week 1 hit.

Denver will stay on the road in Week 2 against a young Jacksonville Jaguars team that was embarrassed by the Houston Texans in Week 1.

Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, threw three scores but also three picks in his debut. Urban Meyer’s coaching debut didn’t go as planned against a Texans team that is supposed to be one of the NFL’s worst squads in 2021.

The Jags will return home with a chance to get back to .500, but the oddsmakers at WynnBET aren’t giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Here’s how the odds look for their Week 2 matchup with Denver:

Broncos vs. Jaguars Spread, Odds and Over/Under

Spread:

Broncos -6.0: (-115)

Jaguars +6.0: (-105)

Moneyline:

Broncos: -265

Jaguars: +210

Over/Under: 45.0 (Over: -115/Under: -105)

Jaguars vs. Broncos Betting Trends

  • Denver covered the spread by 11 points in Week 1.
  • Denver is 19-14 against the spread under Vic Fangio.
  • Teddy Bridgewater is 37-14 against the spread as a starter in his career, the best mark in the NFL.
  • Urban Meyer is 0-1 ATS as an NFL head coach.
  • Starting rookie quarterbacks were 0-3 in Week 1 straight up.

Broncos vs. Jaguars Prediction and Pick

The Broncos may have won in Week 1, but losing Jerry Jeudy to a high-ankle sprain is a big blow for the offense going forward.

Courtland Sutton (one catch, 14 yards) will have to step up in Jeudy’s absence, but the Broncos’ rushing attack of Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon absolutely dominated the Giants in Week 1.

There are going to be growing pains for Lawrence, but he did show flashes of just how good he can be in the NFL. The problem is, the Jaguars don’t look like that good of a team after giving up 37 points to Houston and Tyrod Taylor in Week 1.

Bridgewater did exactly what Vic Fangio wanted him to, which was keep the Broncos in the game and take care of the ball. That, and Denver’s defense, helped the Broncos start the season on the right foot and I’m going to expect them to continue that in Week 2 on the road and cover the six-point spread.
