When it comes to putting the ball in the endzone, there’s almost nobody better than Aaron Rodgers. He won the MVP last season, largely because he led the NFL in touchdowns and helped the Green Bay Packers be the highest-scoring team in the league.

While Rodgers’ peers are Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Tom Brady, it’s Justin Herbert that Rodgers should watch out for.

Herbert is +1000 to win the MVP this season, with Rodgers right behind him at +1100 -- putting them at No. 3 and No. 4 in the odds standings. Herbert has been getting a lot of love this offseason, and the oddsmakers think it’s going to translate directly to the scoreboard.

Right now, WynnBET says that Rodgers and the Packers will score more points than the Los Angeles Chargers, and by a lot. Green Bay is +1200 to lead the league in scoring, with Los Angeles at +2000.

Although it seems obvious to put your faith in the Packers scoring more points, the Chargers fit the mold for a team that is about to take a big offensive jump. The last three seasons, the team that has led the league in scoring was outside of the top 10 (the Chargers were 19th last season). Although 22 teams fit that mold, two of those teams were the Kansas City Chiefs when they made Patrick Mahomes the starters and the Baltimore Ravens when they made Lamar Jackson the starter.

If Herbert is who the odds are projecting him to be, the Chargers will be worth the value they are presenting right now. Los Angeles is going to get a full offseason with Herbert and will have Austin Ekeler back this year.

Although it may seem tough to pick against Aaron Rodgers, it wouldn’t be a terrible idea if the pick is for Justin Herbert.
