NFL Week 10 Upset Picks: Browns Over Patriots, Two NFC North Teams Among Top Predictions
Week 10 of the NFL season is here and the BetSided team is back with more upset picks after Week 9 saw the Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys all get upset.
Last week, our team went 1-3 on straight up upset picks, but our record still stands a strong 21-15 on the season. The Bears crushed our hopes of a 2-2 week on Monday Night Football.
Here’s who we are backing in this week’s slate, with odds via WynnBET Sportsbook:
Cleveland Browns +100 at New England Patriots
The Browns are coming off an impressive win against the Cincinnati Bengals and got themselves back into the AFC North race. Baker Mayfield looked accurate and was able to take the top off the defense, which will be key playing a tough Patriots team.
Offensively, New England has found its groove, but Cleveland’s defense is the real deal. The Browns are allowing just 15 points per game in its last three games. If Baker Mayfield can look even 80% of what he did last week and complement the running game, Cleveland can pick this up. -- Donnavan Smoot
Detroit Lions (+320) at Pittsburgh Steelers
As bad as this Lions team might be, the Steelers, at least their offense, is just as bad. The Steelers are 27th in yards per play, averaging just 5.1, and they're also 27th in yards per pass attempt. The Lions run defense is solid, and teams have, for the most part, beat them through the air. I don't think Big Ben can beat any team through the air, so I think the Lions get their first win of the season here.
Is this a grudge bet because I feel like I deserved to cash in on my Bears moneyline bet against the Steelers on Monday night? Maybe. Maybe not. -- Iain MacMillan
The Steelers like last year are a fraudulent team and I'll keep fading them as long as they keep being lined up as favorites over a field goal. Pittsburgh should have lost to Chicago on Monday night if not for some lucky breaks and I think we see a hard effort from Detroit off the bye. The Steelers are not going to attack the Lions porous secondary with Ben Roethlisberger's diminished arm strength and a hobbled Chase Claypool and I believe that Detroit can stay close in a game with a low total of 42.5.
Detroit is thirsty for their first one, and Pittsburgh is the perfect team to drop one considering their offense is incapable of putting away games. -- Reed Wallach
Minnesota Vikings (+130) at Los Angeles Chargers
The Minnesota Vikings have been maddening to watch this season, and even more frustrating to bet on, as they seem to lose close game after close game.
However, I like this spot for Minnesota against the Chargers who allow the most yards per carry (5.0) in the NFL this season. Minnesota needs to keep its season alive with a win, and Los Angeles had a scare with the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
This feels like a game where Minnesota may ride Dalvin Cook to victory. -- Peter Dewey
New Orleans Saints (+130) at Tennessee Titans
New Orleans played atrocious football until the fourth quarter last week versus Atlanta at home, but made a strong comeback late and ended up losing on a game-winning field goal.
This feels like the right time to fade the Titans, who deserve their praise for their impressive straight-up wins over the Bills, Chiefs, Colts and now Rams; all as underdogs! However, the Saints defense is ripe to bounce back against a team with no true rushing identity after losing Derrick Henry. Don’t forget, Matthew Stafford gifted the Titans their first 14 points of the game on two bone-headed interceptions.
The public loves the Titans as they stand atop the AFC, which makes me even more excited to go the other way. -- Ben Heisler
