NFL Week 12 is the Toughest Betting and Survivor Week of 2021 Season
By Ben Heisler
Congratulations! You've made it all the way to Week 12 in your "Survivor" league and somehow avoided the massive upsets of the Titans in Week 11, the Ravens and Buccaneers in Week 10, and the Cowboys and Bills in Week 9.
So what's your reward for your hard-fought trials and tribulations? How about the toughest week of games to pick on the NFL schedule by far!
For the first time since Week 1 of the season, we have no games featuring double digit spreads on the board.
At WynnBET Sportsbook this week, the Cowboys are the heaviest point-spread team by far in their Thanksgiving matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders; moving from -7 to -8. After that, the Patriots, winners of five straight come in as 6.5-point home favorites against the Tennessee Titans, who actually have a better record and higher playoff seed than their opponents.
After that, good luck trying to predict a winner in a single elimination Survivor contest. With 13 other games on the schedule, only three have a spread larger than 4.
- Bills (-5) at Saints
- Bengals (-4.5) vs. Steelers
- Ravens (-4) vs. Browns
Best Survivor Picks for Week 12
As per Tuesday tradition, the BetSided team released their three top picks for Week 12 to win straight-up in "Survivor." I personally am riding with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night in a pick 'em vs. the Washington Football Team, despite Seattle's slide and Washington winners of two straight. Russell Wilson finally has extra time to get fully recovered from his hand injury and is 29-9-1 straight up in prime time over the last 10 years.
Donnovan Smoot is going with the Patriots to continue their win streak to six games, and our Peter Dewey is taking a team that is a favorite for the first time all season!
Week 12 NFL Betting Trends to Know
With the three games set for Thursday, bettors should be aware of how well favorites have done on Turkey Day over the past 15+ seasons. Since 2005, via gambling insiderJohn Ewing on Twitter, favorites are 32-14 against the spread on Thanksgiving; covering 70% of the games.
You can get a full look at the Bears vs. Lions, Raiders vs. Cowboys, and Bills vs. Saints betting breakdowns here.
Interestingly enough, this completely contradicts how the 2021 season has gone.
Through the first 11 weeks of the NFL year, underdogs are 92-68-1 ATS, and road teams are 96-64-1 ATS. Underdogs only won four of 15 games last week straight up, and favorites hit in nine of 15 games.
