The Match: Bryson Dechambeau vs. Brooks Koepka Prediction and Odds
The long-running saga and rivalry between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will have its finale in November at the fifth edition of “The Match."
The feud began two years ago when Koepka made public comments about DeChambeau’s slow pace of play. It escalated from there, and many related viral clips emerged along the way. The beef was all but squashed at the Ryder Cup in September when the two helped give Team USA the victory over Team Europe.
At the celebration of the victory, the two hugged it out.
In one final chapter, Koepka and DeChambeau will face-off in a one-on-one match play that’s set to take place the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 26th. It will take place at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, and will be broadcasted on TNT.
Let's take a look at the odds for a match via WynnBET Sportsbook.
Odds to Win The Match: Dechambeau vs. Koepka
- Bryson DeChambeau -115
- Brooks Koepka -105
The Match: DeChambeau vs. Koepka Format and Rules
This will be the first edition of the Match since the original that will be a one-on-one event. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson faced each other in an 18-hole match play event in the first version of it, but it has turned into a two-on-two team competition since then.
This iteration of the Match will be shorter than the others, consisting of a 12-hole match play. Match play means that each hole is worth a point. Even if you lose a hole by several strokes, it will only be worth a point to the person who won it.
This format allows golfers to be more aggressive, since they don’t need to worry about their aggregate strokes.
The Match: DeChambeau vs. Koepka Prediction
This is a complete toss up, as the odds indicate. DeChambeau and Koepka are two of the very best golfers on the planet, and they both play a similar play style. We’re going to see some bombs off the tee, some solid iron play, and a few long putts find their way home.
As much of a cop-out as it may sound, it’s going to come down to whichever golfer plays better that day. There’s really not much handicapping you can do in this event. Both golfers won their singles match play round at this year’s Ryder Cup.
Because the matchup is so close, it’s best to just back the underdog and hope for the best. Give me Koepka at -105.
