San Antonio Spurs Kawhi Leonard Dealing With Knee Injury

Although the San Antonio Spurs dispatched of the Golden State Warriors in six games last evening, all isn’t well in the Alamo.

According to Spurs beat writer beat writer Jeff McDonald, Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard is dealing with a knee injury that has raised a few eyebrows.

Per McDonald:

"Storyline for next round: Leonard’s knee. It’s bothering him and mild cause for concern."

The injury isn’t exactly something new for the Spurs or Leonard. McDonald has reported that the knee issue has been determined to be “right knee/quad tendinitis” by the Spurs’ medical staff and that it’s something Leonard has been dealing with for quite a while. However, McDonald also reports that the injury tends to “flare up” and can cause more discomfort for the former San Diego State Aztec randomly, which has created the mild cause for concern.

Leonard did miss time with the injury during the season.

The Spurs are hopeful (and expect) Leonard will be available for Game 1 of the Spurs’ Western Conference Finals battle against the Memphis Grizzlies, which is set to tip on Sunday, May 19th.
