The Sacramento Kings did not hide their desire for free agent Andre Iguodala, splurging on a contract offer earlier this week worth a reported $52 million dollars over four years. But just as quickly as the deal was offered, it was rescinded as Iguodala, who may have been using the offer as leverage with the Denver Nuggets didn’t give them an answer on his decision quickly enough.

Many thought the Kings would turn their attention back to their own restricted free agent Tyreke Evans, who had informed the Kings he would sign an offer sheet with the New Orleans Pelicans if the Kings wouldn’t offer a similar contract. They however appear uninterested in offering a similar contract or matching his deal as it’s been reported the two sides are in discussions for a sign and trade scenario which would land the Kings point guard, Greivis Vasquez.

In addition, assuming the deal does go through and the Kings don’t make another roster move that would eat their cap space, USA Today’s Sam Amick points out that the two sides could come together again.

"But they instead pursued free agent small forward Andre Iguodala in what led to a bizarre and brief courting. Iguodala was given a four-year offer for $52 million by the Kings, but the offer was rescinded late Tuesday night when he didn’t give an answer quickly enough for their liking. While there have been no known discussions between the Kings and Iguodala since, it remains possible that the talks could be revived and the offer re-submitted if Iguodala is unable to find a better deal elsewhere and the Kings have yet to make a move that would preclude it."
