Nuggets center Timofey Mozgov is a restricted free agent for Denver in the 2013 free agency period and has not received much in the way of interest.

Until now.

It’s not your normal interest. In fact, it is not even interest from within the NBA. A Russian team has extended an offer sheet to Mozgov on the hopes he will leave the NBA to join their team.

Here’s what the team, which goes by the name of  Lokomotiv-Kuban, had to say in a statement courtesy of Sportando:

"“We understand that the dream of every basketball athlete is to play in the NBA, especially when there is interest and an offer for you. But we hope that Timofey Mozgov could sign our four-year offer with us. We are really hoping to have him in the roster with us next season for our first campaign in Euroleague. One of our goals is to bring back in the team players from the region of Krasnodar, and Timofey is one of them” said Andrey Vedischev to Championat."

Keep in mind Mozgov is an important role player for the Nuggets coming off the bench behind JaVale McGee. He’s also only 26 years of age and has plenty of time to develop.

Watch closely to see if the Nuggets will match.
