Although the New York Giants signed Victor Cruz to a pretty reasonable extension today (given comparable talents/contracts throughout the league) one person clearly not happy with the decision is fellow Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks. The former North Carolina Tar Heel hasn’t exactly been thrilled with the Giants desire to make Cruz their top priority and has not been overly open about returning to the Giants.

Given the money the Giants will now dedicate to Cruz and Nicks’ desire to get paid, it might be the big man’s final season in the Big Apple.

Per the New York Daily News:

"The Giants would also like to re-sign Nicks at some point, but preliminary talks with his agent went nowhere, according to an NFL source, and in recent interviews Nicks has sounded very lukewarm about re-signing with the Giants before he becomes an unrestricted free agent next spring. The Giants do have the option of placing the “franchise tag” on him next March, but that likely would cost them about $11 million for 2014."

Nicks saw a drastic reduction in his stats last year, only grabbing three touchdown’s en route to 692 yards – a far cry from his thousand yard seasons in both 2010 and 2011.
