It appears the long standing national nightmare that is Victor Cruz’s contract situation is nearing an end.

According to a handful of sources, including Pro Football Talk, both Cruz and the New York Giants are deep in discussions on a new deal which could come as soon as today.

Per PFT:

"Per source with knowledge of negotiations, long-term deal between Victor Cruz and the Giants is very close. It could come as soon as today."

While no numbers have been publicly made available, it’s suggested that Cruz will get the $8-$9 million as initially reported weeks ago and he’ll get around $15 million in guaranteed money. All in all, a pretty nice pay day for the Salsa dancing wide receiver.

USA Today, who also reported the contract talks did hint that, unlike PFT, it’s possible a deal wont be reached today but stressed it’s extremely likely a deal would be completed prior to training camp.

Cruz finished last season with 10 touchdowns and nearly 1100 yards.
