Cam Newton admitted to being an Atlanta Falcons fan, and like most fans he probably keeps up with the team’s news. He had to have seen or heard that Matt Ryan signed a huge deal yesterday. When asked about the deal, Cam Newton didn’t seem too interested in talking about it.

“I didn’t think anything,” Newton said Friday, via Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. “Good for him, but nothing more than that.”

“The only thing that’s on my mind right now is a three-letter word. I think y’all know what that three-letter word is.”

Let me guess C-A-M?

Seriously, it’s probably W-I-N that he is thinking about. Steve Smith said earlier that slow starts were hurting the Carolina Panthers despite finishing the season strong with a 5-1 record.

But Cam’s apparent stand off with the media didn’t end there. When asked about his goals for the season he declined to discuss it.

“It’s easy for people to just go and shoot off goals that they want, and I think it would be cliché right now,” he said. “For us it’s going to be hard work and dedication.”

If he can lead them to a winning season and a playoff berth Cam Newton might have a big pay-day of his own headed his way.
