In addition to losing center David Baas, the New York Giants also lost star wide receiver Victor Cruz in Sunday night’s preseason tilt against the Indianapolis Colts.

While initial x-ray’s were deemed negative, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin suggested in his post game press conference that the salsa dancing Cruz suffered a jammed heel.

Per Ohm Youngmisuk:

"Coughlin says Cruz jammed his heel and is sore. He says has no more information on Cruz and Baas. He hopes it’s not a long thing with VC"

While we’re bound to know more on the injury in the coming hours/days, if Cruz’s injury is nothing more than a jammed heel he’s likely to be just fine for Week 1. Of course, the Giants will be overly cautious with their recently re-signed wideout and wanting to take no chances, Cruz will most likely miss the Giants’ third preseason game this coming week.

The 2012 Pro Bowl wide receiver is coming off a career high in catches with 86. Cruz also hauled in 10 touchdowns last season, another career high.

He’s hopeful to improve upon both this season.
