Just two years removed from being a third round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Green Bay Packers running back Alex Green is out of a job after he was released by the team earlier today.

Per Jason Wilde:

"According to an #NFL source, the #Packers have cut RB Alex Green."

The Packers made a few shocking cuts this morning, though none more eye opening than Green.

As one of the better running back prospects in the draft, Green had elevated status with pro scouts, but he also struggled with ball security, something the Packers coaching staff was far too aware of.

Green became overly fumble prone during Packer practices, but they continued to work with the young back where he received his first NFL carries during Week 4 of the 2012 season. His season didn’t last long though as he was injured during Week 7 and missed the rest of the year.

Very talented (though with warts), Green shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a new home.
