After missing two straight days of practice earlier this week, the Indianapolis Colts suggested that tight end Dwayne Allen would probably not play if he missed a third straight practice on Friday.

Miss it he did.

Now the Colts have downgraded their talented tight end from ‘questionable’ to ‘doubtful’ for Sunday afternoon’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

Per Stephen Holder:

"Uh oh. Colts downgrade Dwayne Allen from questionable to doubtful. That’s just a 25 percent shot of playing. Not good."

Allen, who caught a touchdown in last week’s win against the Oakland Raiders suffered a hip injury just minutes into the game and hasn’t practiced all week because of it.

It’s looking more and more likely that Allen will miss Sunday’s game, barring a near medical miracle overnight.

If Allen, who will be a game time decision is unable to go, Coby Fleener will step in and start at tight end. Dominique Jones could also be involved, though, Fleener will see the majority of time.

We’ll be sure to note Allen’s absence Sunday morning (or his availability) in our inactives post.
