A few weeks ago, New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez decided he would go through an extensive rehab to repair his torn right labrum, hoping that at some point this season, he would be able to return.

He has apparently changed his mind.

According to Ian Rapoport, Sanchez will now go under the knife to repair his torn right labrum, which will sideline him for the next four to six months.

The move likely didn’t make many friends in the Jets’ front office considering the Jets used their injured reserved/designated to return tag on Sanchez, as all parties assumed he’d be back at some point this season though surgery was always a slight possibility during the rehab process.

Undergoing surgery will all but end Sanchez’s career as a member of the New York Jets as he’ll undoubtedly be cut come free agency given his cap number.
