St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig, who has been nursing a foot injury for well over a month was hopeful that he would find himself on the NLCS roster when they were announced last week.

Unfortunately for Craig, it wasn’t to be the case as he still wasn’t healthy enough to do much more than pinch hit and the Cardinals didn’t want to carry a pinch runner and a defensive replacement, just to have Craig’s bat off the bench.

That may change though if the Cardinals are able to advance to the World Series.

While the team certainly doesn’t want to put the cart before the horse, for Craig who has been light running in recent days, he has no choice but to look towards the future and hope he’ll find himself on the World Series roster, this again assumes the Cardinals advance.

"For the second straight day, Craig also did some jogging in the outfield. The Cardinals have said they will be cautious in pushing Craig too far, too fast with mobility work. The first objective would be to have Craig ready as a pinch-hitter/designated hitter in the World Series. Being able to play him in the field would be seen as a bonus."
