Early Monday morning, NFL insider for ESPN, Adam Schefter reported that it wouldn’t be an upset if third-string quarterback David Garrard drew a start in Week 14 against the Oakland Raiders.

That will not be the case however as the Jets reportedly informed Geno Smith he’ll be starting come Sunday afternoon.

"Geno Smith said he was told by QB coach David Lee that he will start. #Jets"

Smith has looked absolutely awful in recent weeks and has seemingly lost the trust of the coaching staff. That said, it’s not as if the Jets have many alternatives to go with as Garrard is all but at the end of his career rope and backup Matt Simms isn’t any better than Smith.

It’s possible that Simms could be regulated to third-string with Garrard backing up Smith come the Week 14 tilt, but barring something unexpected, Smith will be under center this weekend much to the irritation of many Jets fans.

Smith has six interceptions in his previous 55 pass attempts and has registered a passer rating of 8.3, 22.3 and 10.1 in his past three contests.
