The New York Giants don’t have anything to play for outside of pride during the final two weeks of the season, which is why seeing wide receiver Victor Cruz on the field again this year may be questionable at best.

Cruz suffered a nasty concussion during the Giants’ Week 15 game in addition to a knee injury and the deep-ball threat remained out of practice on Thursday.

Still not fully recovered from either injury (or cleared from his concussion), playing in Week 16 seems highly unlikely:

"Jerrel Jernigan (knee) back at practice today. Would expect him in slot, Nicks at X spot and Randle at Z vs. Lions. @adamlevitan#Giants"

There’s little reason for the Giants to risk any further damage to their high priced pass catcher and with nothing to play for, Cruz won’t be rushed back. Of course, with fantasy football playoffs going on, that’s a shot to the heart of Cruz owners.

With Cruz likely out, Rueben Randle will take over the starting duties opposite Hakeem Nicks.
