NBA rumors: Carmelo Anthony wants to sign with Bulls, Lakers or Clippers?
By Bryan Rose
Early Thursday morning, a former longtime Carmelo Anthony teammate said the one time Syracuse Orangeman will leave the New York Knicks at season end and enter free agency.
That suggestion has now lead to speculation that the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are atop the wish list of the New York Knicks forward:
"Carmelo Anthony wants to play for a winner, but desperately wants to play in a big market because of his business ventures — his Jordan Brand sneaker line, his PowerCoco energy drink, his watch deal. That is why New York, Los Angeles, where he has a home, and even Chicago are on his short list, according to a source."
While we’ve known about the potential interest in both the Clippers and Lakers, the intrigue with the Chicago Bulls is relatively new.
Interest or not, the Bulls would need to get creative financially to sign Melo considering they have $63 million guaranteed on the books for the 2014-15. The same goes for the Clippers, who simply don’t have the available funds to sign Anthony outright.
The Lakers however, barring how their season concludes, may have enough money to offer Melo a max contract, but according to the New York Post, Anthony would prefer to play with friend Chris Paul.
