Former NFL head coach and current NBC Football analyst Tony Dungy is adamant about one thing – he’s done coaching.

Yet, he continually throws small suggestions that might not be the case.

Case in point, his recent suggestion citing the Detroit Lions head coaching vanancy as a job he would want if he was to get back into the field:

"“I will tell you this, I think the best job out there is the Detroit Lions,” Dungy said Friday morning in an interview on The Dan Patrick Show. “That’s the job I would want.”"

Wait – what?!

I get what Dungy is saying here, but maybe suggesting it’s the job you would want isn’t the route to go.

The former Indianapolis Colts head coach suggested the team already has a franchise quarterback in place (interceptions be damned!) and are ‘close’ to the Super Bowl, which he believes makes them the best available open job.

He also cited the ownership group as one who ‘doesn’t know’, suggesting they won’t be in your face asking you to cut/trade players all the time.

Hard to disagree.
