Free agent defensive end Jared Allen met with the Dallas Cowboys earlier this morning, though, he’s apparently leaving the Lone Star state without a contract – though that seems to be on his own accord.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Allen is returning home where he’ll meet with his family and discuss his options moving forward.

"Jared Allen plans to head back home after his #Cowboys visit to weigh his options. Don’t expect a decision today. He’ll talk to his wife 1st"

It’s been reported that Allen wants a fair market deal (similar to that of Michael Johnson) but he’ll be hard pressed to find such, something he’s likely finding out.

Now on the wrong side of 30, Allen is still a productive player but his prime is quickly fading and committing a hefty salary to the one-time defensive force understandably wouldn’t be the best decision for a franchises bottom line.

In addition to the Dallas Cowboys, the Seattle Seahawks were said to have interest in Allen with whom he visited last week.
