Early Sunday morning, reports leaked suggesting that Sammy Watkins could be in-play for the St. Louis Rams, who own the No 2. pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

However, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, while there are some within the organization that would like Watkins, he is not somebody the team is considering drafting second overall.

"Watkins and Austin is a nice daydream for Rams Nation. But all indications are that a Sammy Watkins-Tavon Austin tandem will not materialize."

The Rams reportedly believe that their current crop of wideouts could use some more time to progress and while Watkins could be a game-changer, they simply have other holes they need to fill.

Add in that St. Louis invested heavily into wide receivers last season (Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey) doing so again might not be the most effective strategy despite Watkins perceived talent.

The Dispatch seems to believe that the Rams will either attempt to trade down or will look into drafting an offensive tackle if they opt to keep their draft pick.
