How to stop your iPhone from tracking your every move

In a world where we constantly are looking to further distance the reach our technology has from our personal lives, companies continue to push forward into our personal information.  As you may know, the iPhone currently tracks users ever move with the “Frequent Locations” feature.  The goal for Apple and the iPhone is to be able to provide users with location-specific information in the future.

While the idea of having suggestions made based on your preferences is nice, others view that tracking device as little more than an invasive GPS planted by Apple.  With the reminder of the technology most certainly coming at WWDC 14, a reminder on how to disable the “Frequent Locations” feature is in order.

To disable “Frequent Locations” go to the Settings app on your iPhone, then to Privacy and finally Location Services.  By scrolling all the way to the bottom of the list, you will see System Services.  Simply tap Frequent Locations, and disable the “Improve Maps” and “Frequent Locations” options.

While the main goal of disabling these functions is to heighten the level of privacy, a small battery uptick may also be a benefactor.  As Apple rolls out the next wave of iOS and OS releases at WWDC, make sure to note there will most assuredly be workarounds for features consumers are looking to avoid.
