One of the bigger trade rumors of the offseason fizzled out hard at a time in which we thought it would be as rambunctious as ever. But the trade rumors surrounding Kirk Cousins died hard over the weekend and came up maybe once or twice in passing if that.
As a result, it should come as absolutely no surprise that Redskins general manager Bruce Allen has stated the team was not once close to trading Cousins during the draft.
Allen also said the #Redskins never came close to a deal for backup QB Kirk Cousins during draft.

There was more speculation about a possible trade back in March, with the draft being pegged as a deadline of sorts. But rumors of a Cousins trade were repeatedly shot down and they clearly went nowhere.
It will now be Cousins’ job yet again to backup Robert Griffin III which has actually turned out to be more fruitful than we all thought it would be.
