When Australian point guard Dante Exum stated he was going to enter the 2014 NBA Draft, rumors quickly emerged suggesting that he would only play for the Los Angeles Lakers.

That noise wasn’t exactly quieted by Exum who seemingly ran with the suggestion, though in recent weeks has backed off such a sentiment.

Despite that, Exum is currently represented by Rob Pelinka who ironically is the agent of Kobe Bryant. That has lead some to believe that Exum will do what he can to force his way into playing for the Lakers by refusing to workout for other teams.

"However, there’s widespread suspicion that Exum’s agent, Rob Pelinka, who’s also Kobe Bryant’s agent, may not let the Australian point guard work out for anyone but the Lakers. Exum, who has been in Southern California, working out, attending Laker games and meeting the guys, called them his “best option,” although he backed off that last week in Chicago."

While such a decision may have scared teams off in the past, we’ve seen players make such a threat in recent years and it not work out. Simply put, while an in-person workout would be desired, there’s so much game tape that a team can make a decision on a player without seeing them live.

Still, given the Lakers high lottery pick, Exum may be in play without forcing his way there.
