Take a look at the photo posted below of former Longhorns head coach Mack Brown, former star quarterback Vince Young and super fan Matthew McConaughey that Brown threw up on his twitter account.
That right there is the epitome of Longhorns football. Why? Well, because those three men were all on the field the last time Texas won the national championship in the 2006 Rose Bowl against the mighty USC Trojans.
Okay, McConaughey wasn’t a player, but he was still technically on the field, cheering his beloved Longhorns from the sidelines.
Vince Young, well, we all know what the significance of him playing for Texas in that game is…
And as for Brown, that night was the crowning achievement for him as the head man of the Longhorns. In his 15 years in Austin, where he compiled a 134-34 record, that was his lone national title win.
New head coach Charlie Strong has a long way to go before he can get to the level in Texas lore of these three guys above.
